OSAGE BEACH, MISSOURI (January 18, 2025) – The Missouri Cattlemen's Association recognized a Buckner, Missouri, cattle producer as the 2024 Cattleman of the Year at the 57th Annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention & Trade Show on January 18, 2025, at Osage Beach. Bruce Mershon was presented the award for his commitment to advancing the Missouri beef industry.
Mershon is dedicated to advancing our industry by pushing people to think outside of the box and to do things differently. He became a member of Missouri Cattlemen’s in 2002 and has worn many hats since becoming involved including being the 2022 MCA President.
Mershon is an entrepreneur at heart and is always on a constant quest to seek knowledge and improvement for the betterment of the beef industry. While serving as MCA President in 2022, Mershon dedicated his efforts to both working on policy to support the industry and building MCA membership.
"Mershon has been a dedicated member for a very long time. He is also dedicated to the very mission of MCA— advancing the beef industry," said Ben Eggers, past MCA president. “This award was created to put focus on a member who went above and beyond in the respective year, and there is no one more deserving of that recognition in 2024 than Bruce Mershon.”
Bruce, his wife Tracey, work together to operate a crossbred cattle operation in west central Missouri. They raise Angus based cows and breed to Hereford, Charolais and Simmental bulls to create highly efficient, high performing calves.
